It is the middle of summer and the idea of a vacation might sound like fun... until you remember that you'll have to pack your suitcase first. Being able to plan one's outfits for a week or more ahead is a seriously underestimated skill that sadly not all of us possess. Then, there are airline weight restrictions and unexpected weather conditions to plan around, so sometimes the mental load of packing can dampen our enthusiasm.
Let us help you take the stress out of what is arguably the least fun part of any vacation with these 4 simple tips.
1. Non-wrinkle fabrics
You arrive at your destination, start unpacking your suitcase and realize that all of your carefully chosen outfits need ironing... badly. Now you either need to find an iron and ironing board and spend part of your precious vacation time doing housework, or enlist the help of professionals (i.e. hotel staff) and spend your money on something that wouldn't have happened in the first place if only you had packed clothes made of wrinkle-free, non-iron fabrics.
Save space in your suitcase by packing pieces that can be worn in multiple ways. A casual little black dress will take you from a morning at the beach to cocktail hour and dinner - just change the accessories! A white shirt for men is a good choice for pretty much any occasion. Pack light, but pack smart!
3. Long sleeves
Even if you are traveling to a tropical country, you still need to be prepared for the unexpected. Always pack something that you can put over your summery outfit on rainy days and chilly evenings: a long-sleeved T-shirt or a hoodie can sometimes be a godsend.
4. Roll it up
You can fit so much more in your bag if you roll each item up tightly. This is also a great way to prevent your clothes from getting all wrinkly... but you probably didn't need that tip, because you already know to pack non-wrinkle fabrics in your vacation suitcase! ;)
